His heart began to beat slower and slower echoing deeply through his body. He lay underneath masses of rock and rubble, alive from a horrible ordeal. Thanks to his ability to cast Mercury psynergy he was able to stay alive if just. His thoughts, his angry memories had disappeared over the time he was trapped. He had the time to think of his actions.
Several months ago...A young man was climbing up the side of a huge mountain, his face strained with pain. His hands were covered with blood from all the climbing, every inch of his being keeping him climbing. His pale blue clothes and his long navy cloak were torn and tattered. Sweat beaded his face and he continued to climb, causing his long blue hair to stick to his face. He looked up as four beams of light began to shoot across the sky. It was happening now!
“Oh no! Please wait for me!” He shouted climbing the mountain with new found strength. He reached the top at last gasping for breath. He laughed maniacally as the lights touched the mountain. He felt power flow through him, he now had supreme power. An immortal that walks upon men! “Yes! I’ve finally have it! I finally have the Golden Sun!” He looked down from the mountain, eyeing the small village at the base. He raised a hand slowly grinning evilly. “Limitless power and endless life…mine! Now storms engage your wrath upon the village of Vale!”
He waited…nothing.
He looked down at his hand. “Something is not right! If I have power, a simple storm should easy to conjure! What is going on!?”
“You cannot do it for you have not the power to do so…” came a deep voice.
He looked around frantically for whoever had said those words. “Who is there!? What do you mean!?” He now sounded like madman.
“I see why you are doing this Alex but you cannot hope it is that easy…” The voice was followed by a flash. In front of Alex’s eyes was a floating rock with an eye. His voice sounded that of a wise man. “I said you cannot do it because you do not have the required power to do so…”
“What do you mean? I have the Golden Sun! I have more power than what any adept could ever have!” Alex shouted throwing out his hand. His entire body glowed with power as it began to push the rock. “See!? I have the power! I am immortal! I AM A GOD!!!!!”
“No you are not!” The voice boomed as a large wave of blue light filled its rocky surface. The wave hit Alex causing him to be lifted into the air. He shouted and squirmed to no avail. With no mercy the rock slammed Alex into the ground three times, every bone in his body breaking with the sheer force. He cried out in pain, screaming as blood began to dribble from his mouth.
“Who-Who are you?” demanded Alex.
“I am the Wise One! Protector of Weyard and the elements.” It closed its eye. “Alex you are foolish. Your psynergy is merely a lot more than a common adept. You life is nearly limitless, it’s because of your portion of the Golden Sun that you’ll live.”
“Wait my portion! Who has the rest!?” He couldn’t believe it. All his work, no it couldn’t be! He should have been able to defeat the guardian! How!? HOW!? “WHO!? WHO HAS ROBBED ME OF MY DREAMS!?” He cried in anger as pain spread around his body.
“I, the Wise One, imbued some of the Golden Sun’s power into the Mars Star which rested with young Isaac! Isaac now possesses what you desire Alex! I saw through your plans. You would’ve destroyed the adepts’ way of living whereas Isaac was ready to help Man flourish. With great power comes great responsibility…”
Alex screamed and shouted in anger. No! Isaac! He had stolen his power! Of all people! He continued to scream as the ground beneath him began to shake.
“H-Hey what’s going on!?”
“Mt. Aleph is lowering into the ground. If you do not escape now, you shall surely perish!”
“Escape!? How can I if I cannot move?”
“Perhaps, with your new life span you may live and if that is the case perhaps we shall meet again.”
The Wise One disappeared as Alex was swallowed by the hard earth. He screamed for help as rubble fell on him. He cried in pain as everything went black…
Death was creeping slowly upon him. His psynergy was nearly depleted as he tried to heal more of his bones. He could walk if he wanted but had no strength to move the rocks. He sighed as he thought of those moments. What had he been thinking? He now understood the Wise One’s words. He had been wrong on what he had tried to accomplish. Unworthy hands were not allowed to use the Golden Sun for such deeds. Why had he done all those dreadful acts? The clan from which he hailed from was that of Mercury. A clan of water users. They were always looked down upon for they were often used as medics in battle. No matter how strong a Mercury adept was they were always assigned to being medics. He had wanted to prove that Mercury deserved to be equal to the other elements. No more discrimination.
He thought long and hard. He was no longer a Mercury Adept but something else. He was imbued with all the elements but he felt a different power from within. He tried to use some Jupiter psynergy when he felt a new power. Something was happening.
A bright light covered his entire body. He shielded his eyes as the light completely engulfed him. Soon it faded and he slowly opened his eyes. He was in white room. His eyes burned from the bright intensity of the room.
“My Lord Yggdrasil why have you saved this pathetic man?” asked a cold voice.
“Zelos, you know we have travelled to this world because we search for her. He may have knowledge of one!”
Alex gasped as two men loomed over him. He had never seen men like this before.
The one he presumed as Zelos had deep red curly hair which fell to his waist. The man wore a strange triangular gem on his neck, almost looking like it was embedded on his skin. His face was round and pale, almost death like. His eyes had no sign of emotion, just anger. His hair was kept out of his face by a white bandana and his clothing was something Alex was not accustomed to. He wore black clothes that stretched up his arms with pink attachments. He wore a black top with what appeared to be a pink waistcoat on top. He wore white trousers with a ling sword tied around his waist. He has what looked like wings, individual feathers floating there. They shone bright orange within this room.
The other, “Lord Yggdrasil”, looked younger than Zelos. He had long straight blonde hair which fell past his waist as well. His share the same characteristics as Zelos though with some differences. He wore a long white robe with black lining. As it crossed his chest, a small diamond crystal was there. His dark green eyes had a red glint as he looked into Alex’s pale blue eyes. He had wings as well only his differed in colour, being a deep blood red.
Alex gulped as the man held his hand over Alex’s head. He was walking through his mind looking for something Alex knew not. The last thought entered was that of Mia, his fellow apprentice. He held his breath as he seen her smile.
“My, my you have been through a lot. Hm so much pain, it’s delicious!” Yggdrasil said coldly. “Alex is your name and you use a special type of magic, no not magic something called psynergy. Oh my, what have we here?”
“My Lord, have you found anything out about a host?” asked Zelos curiously.
“Yes I see a young girl. Her mana is close to that of her! Her name…Mia…” He smiled coldly as his eyes left Alex’s. “He has served his purpose. I suggest we make him one of us.”
Zelos nodded in agreement and moved away for a moment. Alex tried to use psynergy but he was completely drained. Zelos soon returned holding a small crystal.
“We shall soon have that girl of yours. She will help bring about the end of mankind!”
Alex’s eyes widened as the crystal came closer. No, he couldn’t let Mia get hurt! He never wanted any of them hurt. He had to escape from here. He had to save Mia. He gathered up what strength he could and began to convert it to psynergy.
“I can’t let you hurt her!” He unleashed his psynergy. “Warp!” His body turned into beads of light as he disappeared from that place. He felt his body hit the ground with a thud. A cold wind blew a familiar wind. He was home in Imil. Now to find Mia and he soon thought she would be at Mercury lighthouse praying to the Goddess. He moved through the snow to reach the lighthouse.
Back to Yggdrasil
Yggdrasil examined the spot were Alex had layen, his eyes burning with anger. Zelos had returned the crystal as he watched Yggdrasil. He waved his hand over the spot trying to find Alex’s position.
“My Lord?”
He could feel magic. He could perhaps trace it. He looked to the sky, glowing brightly above them as though it was the sky. A mere illusion.
“Zelos, I can track him if you get that girl! We need to revive her soon.” He said facing Zelos again.
“Yes my Lord.” He bowed as he went away.
“Oh and Zelos, I believe we will be joined by some old friends!”
Zelos’s hands gripped together. They couldn’t come now! What was he thinking? He was their friends. What was he doing here? How did he get here? His blank eyes regained their shine. He looked around confused. He saw Yggdrasil. “You how are you alive?”
Yggdrasil clicked his fingers. The jewel on Zelos’s chest began to glow, electricity crackling around it. He screamed in pain as his eyes lost their shine once more. “We can’t have you losing your nerve now Zelos. After all without your cruxis crystal you wouldn’t have lived, and then I wouldn’t be here would I?” He cackled evilly once more as Zelos bowed awaiting his next order.
